All Are Welcome to Worship, Fellowship, and Serve
All persons are welcome at Chatham Baptist Church. You do not have to be a member of Chatham Baptist to participate in worship, small groups, fellowship activities, or service to our community. You’ll find information about these events at the Schedule and Ministries pages on this site. If you would like to know more, please contact the church office, 434.432.8003, or email the pastor, chuckwarnock [at] gmail [dot] com. We look forward to talking with you and helping you find a place of worship, study, fellowship, or service.
What Should You Expect When You Visit on Sunday?
When you arrive in the parking lot on Carter Street, you will see a tall drive-through portico. This is the entrance to our fellowship building and children’s departments. As you enter, take the elevator to the 2nd floor. When you exit the elevator, turn right and you will see our fellowship hall and signs directing you to other areas of the building. Follow the signs to the church office, sanctuary, and small group meeting rooms. Friendly folks will help you find your way.
Sunday Worship Service
On Sundays our traditional worship service is at 11:00 am. Worship is accompanied by pipe organ and piano, a full choir, and scripture readings from the revised common lectionary. This may sound formal, but our worship also includes a children’s time where boys and girls gather at the front of the sanctuary for a special message; a greeting time where we see old friends and make new ones; and, warm singing by both choir and congregation. The pastor robes for this service and brings encouraging messages relevant to real life.
Preschool care is provided for children 3-years and younger during worship. Preschool rooms are located on the ground level near the elevator at the portico entrance.
How can you become a member?
Persons interested in church membership may join by one of three ways:
- Profession of Faith — If you are not a member of another church, but have made the decision to follow Christ, you may wish to express that commitment publicly. If you are ready to make this decision, or would like guidance in following Christ, please contact the pastor.
- Transfer of Membership – You can join by transferring your membership from another church.
- Statement of Faith – You may affirm that you are a Christian and have been baptized previously. Your former church experience does not have to be Baptist. Our congregation has many members who have joined by statement of faith.
We invite you to talk with the pastor if you are considering joining Chatham Baptist Church. Please call the church office (434.432.8003) or email the pastor and he will be happy to talk with you personally.
