Operation Christmas Child season is right around the corner! Millions of shoeboxes will be collected around the country in November (Pittsylvania County -Danville collect on November 17th – November 24th), but before these precious gifts can bring hope and joy to a child around the world each one has to be carefully inspected and made ready for overseas shipment by enthusiastic volunteers – like you!
You can help Samaritan’s Purse prepare these gifts for delivery by volunteering along with your friends and family at one of our processing centers across the U. S.
We are proposing that we get a church bus load to go to Boone, N. C. on Tuesday, December 2nd. The Center opens at 9 AM and closes at 10 PM. It will take at least 3 hours to travel to Boone, a beautiful mountainous area of N. C. We could leave at 8 AM and arrive at 11, eat lunch, and plan to be at the Distribution Center from 1 to 5, eat there, and return to Chatham by 10 PM at the latest. We are giving you this information, hoping that we can get this time slot at the Distribution Center. We can register for Boone on September 9th, so we won’t know until that date what we can get. But we do need to know who would be interested in participating. So let us know as soon as you can contact your WMU and church groups, so that I can have a number by September 9th.
